Automatic Backup
Overview
Automatic Backup is a feature that enables the data backup process to be carried out automatically according to a predefined schedule. With this feature, the system will run the backup process periodically without requiring manual intervention, helping to ensure that data and configurations always have an up-to-date backup copy.
Automatic Backup Functions
Automatic Backup serves to:
- Run the backup process automatically according to the defined schedule.
- Reduce reliance on the manual backup process.
- Ensure that system data and configurations are backed up consistently.
- Manage backup file storage based on the retention policy.
- Support data recovery and service continuity needs.
Automatic Backup Uses
Automatic Backup can be used to:
- Maintain data backup availability without a manual process.
- Ensure backups are performed routinely and on a schedule.
- Reduce the risk of data loss due to operational oversight.
Automatic Backup Configuration
In the Automatic Backup configuration, administrators can define the following settings:
1. Status and Setting
Determines the status of the Automatic Backup feature used by the system to perform scheduled data backups. Administrators can also change or reconfigure the backup settings according to operational needs.
Two status options are available:
- Active: Automatic backup is active, and the backup process will run automatically according to the configured schedule.
- Inactive: Automatic backup is disabled, so the scheduled backup process will not be run by the system.
2. Scope
Determines the type of data to be included in the backup process. Some of the available data scopes include:
- System Configuration: A comprehensive backup of the system configuration.
- Keys: A backup of the master key and security config.
- Audit Log: A backup of user activity records.
- System Log: A backup of system activity for health monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational analysis.
Administrators can select one or more components according to backup needs.
3. Destination
Determines the storage location for the backup results.
The available options include:
- Local Disk: Stores backup files directly on the local storage of the TAKAKRYPT server. This option is suitable for internal backup needs managed on the same server.
- S3 Storage: Stores backup files on an object-based storage service compatible with Amazon S3. This option allows backups to be stored on external infrastructure or cloud storage according to the organization's needs.
4. Path (Local)
If Local Disk is selected, specify the path or directory where the backup files will be stored. The specified path will be used as the destination directory for storing all backup files created automatically.
5. Schedule Backup
Determines the schedule for running automatic backups. Administrators can set the backup execution time according to operational needs. With this setting, the system will run the backup process at the specified time.
6. Enable Retention
Determines the retention setting for automatically deleting backup files after a certain period.
Two options are available:
- Active: The retention policy is applied.
- Inactive: Backup files will remain stored until they are deleted manually.
When the retention feature is enabled, the system will manage backup files based on the defined retention period.
7. Retention Period (Days)
Determines the number of days that backup files are retained.
With this configuration, the system will retain backup files for the specified period. After that period has elapsed, old backup files can be deleted automatically according to the applicable retention policy.
